REVIEWS: “Cronenberg takes the ensemble to darkly twisted heights as Moore leads a top-notch cast.”

Maps To The Stars opens in the UK on Friday and we have some great reviews rounded up for you guys. There are also some great new stills to check out in our gallery below too!

The Telegraph (5 stars!):

This is Cronenberg’s best film since Spider in 2002; a great, rumbling thundercloud of dark laughs and churning horror, with a cast of characters so incestuously interconnected that it’s mighty hard to fathom who is linked to whom, and how.

Cinemablographer (4.5/5):

Cronenberg takes the ensemble to darkly twisted heights as Moore leads a top-notch cast.

Hey U Guys (4/5 stars):

Most of these are served up by Moore, who continues to prove herself as one of the film world’s greatest assets, bringing a damaged glamour to every role. In Havana, she’s the Julianne who didn’t make all the best choices, her smeared make-up masking the fact that in her middle age, she’s holding onto more regret than she is talent.

Slant:

Maps to the Stars is a scabrous, etched-in-acid comedy that digs deeper into the perversions and pathologies undergirding the Dream Factory than anything since Mulholland Drive.

ByO9aWBIcAAvrQI.jpg-largeLA Weekly:

Julianne Moore is remarkable.

Black Sheep Reviews:

MAPS TO THE STARS is an absolutely brilliant treat for fans of this Canadian auteur. You will be disturbed but you will also be moved, deeply

We Got This Covered:

Wasikowska, doing the best work here as a young woman tiptoeing over an abyss, delivers Maps to the Stars’ most indelible image at the same time that its director tells critics just what it is they can do with their awards.

Flavorwire:

Cronenberg’s ‘Maps to the Stars’ Is Wickedly Funny and Deliciously Dark

JoBlo:

In addition to Bird, Wasikowska has a haunting quality that makes her a good fit for Cronenberg, while Robert Pattinson nails a small part as the wannabe actor-writer she has a crush on. Even better is Julianne Moore, who plays a kind-of middle aged take-off on Lindsay Lohan, who at her best seems dumb, but gradually reveals herself to be cunning and near-psychotic in her maneuverings around town.

We’ve seen bits and pieces of it before but there’s lots of fantastic new footage too.

And here’s another new clip from the movie with Julianne Moore as Havana who is not very impressed with her agent
