It is the jury of fifteen critics that crowned Howard Shore in connection with the site Cinezik. They had for mission to chase away the score the most original and the best adapted to a full-length film of the official competition. Maps to the Stars gained their votes. LISTEN: First single for Howard Shore’s Maps To The Stars score (“one of his best…Clockwork Orange territory”)

Screen Shot 2014-05-21 at 4.22.27 posted the first single from his Maps To The Stars score on his website. The score was noted in a few reviews, the highlight coming from Screen Daily:

And Cronenberg’s go-to composer, Howard Shore, delivers one of his best scores yet for the dry Canadian maestro, a menacing undertow that picks up on some of the ethnic, New Age sounds of the world it depicts, but shifts them into Clockwork Orange territory.

Long-time collaborators of David Cronenberg return for Maps To The Stars: Peter Suschitzky, Howard Shore & MORE

Working on a film with David Cronenberg is like going to a family reunion. He brings back people he’s worked with for decades. He’s highly regarded by many and especially those that work with him. Maps To The Stars is no exception. John Cusack (Stafford) tweeted yesterday about how David Cronenberg is fun, intense and provocative and Amanda Brugel (Victoria) also had kind words to share:

It’s no wonder familiar names continue to work along side this iconic director. Producer, Martin Katz, has collaborated with Cronenberg three previous times (Spider, A Dangerous Method & Cosmopolis) and the first production still from Maps To The Stars released this week was taken by still photographer, Caitlin Cronenberg, David’s daughter.

Caitlin previously worked as the still photographer for Cosmopolis and we know MTTS stars, Robert Pattinson (Cosmopolis) and Sarah Gadon (A Dangerous Method, Cosmopolis) have their acting history with Cronenberg as well. While IMDb has a fuller list of crew that shows more of the Cosmopolis family carrying over to Maps To The Stars (Renee Tab, Joseph Boccia),  The Hollywood Reporter pointed out crew that’s been working with David for decades:

The Maps to the Stars’ creative team includes longtime Cronenberg collaborators including director of photography Peter Suschitzky, production designer Carol Spier, costume designer Denise Cronenberg, editor Ron Sanders and Oscar-winning composer Howard Shore.

They know the man, the legend, and know how to bring his vision to life efficiently and artistically. We can’t wait to see what David and Co. create for Maps To The Stars. Like every other film David Cronenberg does, it’ll be a study in cinema with a master at the helm.

Howard Shore Renuites With David Cronenberg For “Maps To The Stars” Score

The Cannes 2013 Brochure gives the info that the Maps To The Stars Score is by Howard Shore.

It’s looking like the old gang is getting back together crew wise. Howard Shore also did the scores for “Cosmopolis” & “A Dangerous Method”
